Plot Summary:
Triangle (2009) is a psychological horror-thriller directed by Christopher Smith. The film follows Jess (Melissa George), a mother who joins a group of friends on a sailing trip. During their journey, they are caught in a violent storm and are forced to board a mysterious, abandoned ocean liner. However, things quickly take a terrifying turn when they realize that they are trapped in a time loop, with no way to escape the ship.
As the group tries to make sense of their situation, Jess discovers that the ship seems to be haunted by dark forces. People begin to die one by one, and Jess starts to experience strange, déjà vu-like moments. She realizes that she is the key to breaking the loop but is forced to confront the horrific events that repeat themselves every time the cycle resets.
In a twist, it is revealed that Jess is stuck in an infinite loop where she has been trying to change the events but always ends up being responsible for the death of her friends. As she unravels the mystery, she is forced to make a heartbreaking choice in an attempt to save herself and her son.
With its tense atmosphere, mind-bending plot, and a shocking ending, Triangle explores themes of fate, guilt, and the inescapable nature of time. The film is noted for its complex narrative structure, which keeps the audience guessing until the very end, and for its dark, unsettling tone. While it received mixed reviews from critics, it has gained a cult following for its unique take on time loops and psychological horror.
