Revenge is a 2017 French action-thriller directed by Coralie Fargeat. The film follows Jen (Matilda Lutz), a beautiful young woman who is spending a weekend in a remote desert villa with her wealthy, married lover, Richard (Kevin Janssens). While Richard is away on a hunting trip, his two friends, Stan (Vincent Colombe) and Dimitri (Guillaume Bouchède), arrive unexpectedly. What starts as a relaxing vacation quickly turns into a nightmare when Jen is brutally assaulted by the men.

After the assault, they attempt to kill Jen by throwing her off a cliff, leaving her for dead. Miraculously, she survives, despite severe injuries, and drags herself back to the villa. Determined to seek vengeance, Jen manages to find the strength to fight back. With no one around to help her and only the harsh desert landscape as her backdrop, Jen becomes a fierce survivor, using her wits and physical resilience to outsmart the men who wronged her.
The film follows Jen’s relentless pursuit of revenge as she navigates the brutal desert terrain, fighting not only her attackers but the unforgiving environment itself. Revenge is a tense, action-packed survival story that blends themes of violence, empowerment, and retribution. The film stands out for its feminist take on the “rape-revenge” genre, portraying Jen as a woman who transforms from a victim into a relentless avenger. Her journey is one of survival, self-discovery, and vengeance, with her unyielding spirit driving the narrative forward.
